Student Success Overview
We are a department dedicated to taking failing students and coaching them to success. While we try to achieve short term gains, most of all we try to plant the seeds for life-long growth, maturity, and learning. We offer a GLS (General Learning Strategies) credit course at the 101 level and the 401 level. We teach organization, time management and study skills, as well as offering homework support for other courses.
Credit Recovery (RCR) is also available. If a student repeatedly fails a junior core course by a small margin (35-49%) we provide an intensive condensed course within which they can make up the credit. We are trying to leave no child behind in the credit game.
For Student Success to be successful, students must want to make a change in their high school histories. Students are recommended for the Success program through their Guidance Counsellor. Usually a student is failing at least two courses and faltering in others to be considered but there are exceptions. If interested in Student Success for your child, contact your child’s Guidance Counsellor.
